Chonburi Football Club is a Thai professional football club based in city of Chonburi province. The club was founded in 2001 by 4 key men Annop Singtothong, Thanasak Suraprasert and Khunplome’s brother Sontaya and Vitaya. Chonburi Football Club is widely known by their nickname The Sharks. Chonburi Football Club is currently playing in Thai Premier League which is the top division of Thai football. The team lifted the league title in 2007 which became first provincual team most successful season of the club history. Chonburi Football Club played their first AFC Champions League in 2008 with the drawn against Gamba Osaka (JPN), Melbourne Victory (AUS) and Chunnam Dragons (KOR). The Sharks performed well and impressed the supporters in the game they won over Melbourne Victory at Supachalasai stadium.
